Buyer needs
Architects, builders and contractors
For a project, a door hardware schedule saves time on both sides: list each door type, its use, its size and the finish, and ask for a quotation against it.

Plan it as a set
Door types
Group doors by type and function: main, bedroom, bathroom, service.
Quantities
Give quantities per door type, plus any spares you want held.
Finish
Name one finish for the project, or one per area.
Closers and sizes
Give door widths and weights where closers are needed.
Where to look in the range

Mortise lock sets, rim and safety locks, cylinders and knob locks for main and interior doors.

Overhead hydraulic door closers sized to the door, with adjustable closing speed.

Butt, ball-bearing and other door hinges, chosen by door weight, size and finish.

Lever handles on roses or plates, pull handles and knobs, matched to the lock.

Tower and barrel bolts, flush bolts for double doors, and latches.
Read before you buy
- Choosing a door closerA closer is chosen by the door it has to move. Width and weight come first; mounting and adjustment follow.
- Choosing hingesHinges hold the whole door. Undersized hinges are the most common reason a door drops and starts catching on the frame.
- Finishes and materialsFinish is what you notice first and touch every day. Choose it for the room, then keep it consistent on each door.
